    Mrs. Kathleen Brown
Our children are our future!
Hello! My name is Kathleen Brown and I have been teaching for 21 years. At Palestine High School I teach AP Chemistry, Pre-AP Chemistry, Environmental Science and TAKS remediation. My goal is for students to enjoy the excitement of chemistry and understand how it impacts every aspect of their daily lives.

We have many exciting topics to cover the second semester. In AP Chemistry we will study gases and students will compete in the hot air balloon contest. Then electrochemistry will be the focus and this unit will end with the electrochemical lemon contest. After several other units including coordination and organic chmistry the students will present the "Chemistry Circus" at the elementary schools.

Pre-AP Chemistry will begin with chemical reactions and balancing chemical equations. Many interesting labs are part of this unit. The study of gases, the electromagnetic spectrum, bonding, solutions, nuclear chemistry, and acids/bases will finish the year. Our field trip to the Nuclear Science center at Texas A & M is always a highlight of the spring semester.

Chemistry 1- Our field trip to the Mckinney Roughs was an exciting time for all. Photos are developed and will be added to the webpage as soon as possible. Students are focusing on TAKs review for the upcoming test.

Environmental Science will begin with reviewing vocabulary
essential to the study of science. Labs, activities and class work will cover many topics from changes in the biosphere, matter and energy in the ecosystems and interactions in ecosystems. The different biomes will be investigated and managing human impact will be a primary focus.
